Welsh government uses South Wales military site to house Afghan escapees assisting UK forces, as a temporary reception center.

The Welsh government is using a military complex in South Wales to house Afghan escapees who have assisted UK forces. East Camp, a Ministry of Defence housing estate in St Athan, will accommodate 50 people by the end of March, with more arriving in April. The site can house up to 180 people and is being used as a reception centre by the Ministry of Defence until Christmas, with families using it on a temporary basis before moving to homes on military sites around the UK. All Afghans residing at the St Athan site have indefinite leave to remain in the UK and are expected to stay there for around six months.
