New Jersey aims to establish a maple syrup industry with the help of Stockton University, which has received $1m in grants from the US Department of Agriculture. Researchers are exploring whether a viable industry can be created using southern New Jersey's maple trees, which contain half the sugar content of those in Vermont. The university, located near 300 acres of maples, has been producing syrup for four years.
