Siena College has hired Gerry McNamara, a former Syracuse basketball standout, as its new head coach. McNamara, who spent two decades as a player and assistant at Syracuse, had been serving as the associate head coach. He succeeds Carmen Maciariello Jr., who was fired in March. Siena finished the season with a 4-28 record. McNamara, 40, is Syracuse's fourth-leading scorer in history and was part of the 2003 national championship team.
