70 Thai protesters, including PAD members, acquitted of 2008 airport shutdown charges for peaceful protests.

A Thai court has acquitted nearly 70 people, including members of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), of all charges related to mass protests in 2008 that led to the shutdown of Bangkok's two airports for approximately 10 days. The court ruled that the protests were protected under the constitution as they were peaceful and involved unarmed protesters. The charges included rebellion and terrorism, which could have led to the death penalty.
