1st FDA-approved OTC birth control pill, Opill, now available nationwide in major US retailers.

For the first time, over-the-counter (OTC) birth control pills are available in the US. Opill, the first FDA-approved daily oral contraceptive for OTC use, is now available nationwide in major retailers and pharmacies like Amazon, CVS, and Walmart. This increased availability is expected to increase the number of women using contraceptives. In addition, New Mexico Medicaid now covers the cost of Opill, pregnancy tests, and emergency contraception, providing free access for its beneficiaries.
