Rep. Jon Hardister (R-Guilford) has resigned from the North Carolina House of Representatives after six terms in office. First elected in 2012, Hardister cited the need to focus on family and private sector work as his reason for stepping down. He has served as the state house deputy majority whip and was the youngest and longest-serving House Majority Whip in North Carolina history.
