Nigeria's national grid collapsed for the second time in 2024, causing a nationwide power outage.

Nigeria's national grid collapsed for the second time in 2024 on Thursday, plunging the country into darkness. The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) informed its customers through social media platforms, attributing the outage to a system failure within the national grid. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) confirmed the grid collapse and said it was working to restore normal supply. This is the fourth reported grid collapse in Nigeria this year.
