New Zealand Food Safety supports Matakana Smokehouse in recalling two salmon products due to possible Listeria contamination. The products may pose serious risks to vulnerable groups like pregnant individuals, newborns, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems, causing miscarriage, premature labor, stillbirth, and infection in newborns. Consumers should not consume the affected products and can return them for a refund or discard them. Listeria was discovered through routine testing, and New Zealand Food Safety is working with Matakana Smokehouse to prevent future occurrences.
