Abuja High Court acquits Adoke and others in Malabu Oil deal fraud case due to insufficient evidence.

The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has acquitted former Nigerian Attorney General, Mohammed Adoke, and six others accused of fraud in the handling of the Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 245, known as the Malabu Oil deal. The court ruled that the prosecution failed to provide evidence to prove the essential elements of the offences charged, and criticized the poorly drafted charges. The judge determined that continuing the trial would cause injustice to the defendants and advised against filing similar charges in the future.
