70% of workers and 40% of employers are unaware of an upcoming UK law change, effective from April 6, that allows employees to request flexible working hours from their first day of employment, rather than the current 26-week requirement. Acas, a workplace expert, conducted a study and emphasized the importance of both parties being prepared for the new changes, as flexible working can bring various benefits to workplaces. Acas has developed a new statutory code of practice, set to take effect on April 6, to address the changes and outline good practice on flexible working requests.
