2023 Q4, UK electricity generation reached a record 51.5% from renewables, led by 28.7% wind energy.

In 2023, the UK saw a record high share of electricity generation from renewable sources, reaching 135 Terawatt hours (TWh), making up 51.5% of its electricity generation in the last quarter of 2023. Wind energy had a record high share of 28.7%, and offshore wind increased its share to 17.3%. Fossil fuel electricity generation saw its lowest ever share, while total UK energy production hit a record low of 100.4 million tonnes of oil equivalent.
