Mezzo-soprano Marion Newman, a CBC host, joins University of Victoria as assistant professor in music after 24 years in Toronto.

Critically acclaimed mezzo-soprano Marion Newman, who is also the host of CBC Music's Saturday Afternoon at the Opera, will join the University of Victoria as an assistant professor at the school of music this July, creating a "homecoming of sorts." Newman, of Kwaiguilth and Stó:lō First Nations descent, will help shape future music talent as she returns to her roots after more than 24 years in Toronto.
