Lord Caine, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, visited Downpatrick to assess the town's recovery post-flooding caused by Storm Ciarán in November. UK Government provided £15m support, with £7,500 one-off grants and rates relief until March 2024 for affected businesses, while the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) provided up to £100,000 per business for equipment, property, and building repairs. Lord Caine praised Downpatrick's resilience during his visit.
