Housing Minister Chris Bishop announces stronger protections for apartment owners and buyers with further changes to the law on unit titles taking effect on 9 May 2024. These changes aim to increase New Zealanders' confidence in apartment purchases and contribute to more homeownership. The amendments will strengthen the long-term maintenance regime, clarify body corporate manager contracts, and introduce new powers for regulator MBIE. New regulations will also be introduced.
