Canada has introduced tougher national security reviews of proposed foreign investments in sensitive sectors to quickly spot potentially problematic deals. The National Security Investments Act, which received royal assent, amends the Investment Canada Act to provide the government with new tools to protect the economy and national security. The changes apply to sectors like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and space technology, with the possibility to extend to other sectors.
