British Columbia officials seek to question QuadrigaCX co-founder Michael Patryn over seized assets worth C$250,000 to determine their legitimacy.

British Columbia officials are seeking to question the surviving co-founder of defunct crypto exchange QuadrigaCX, Michael Patryn, regarding almost C$250,000 ($184,310) in cash, 45 gold bars, and jewelry including a diamond-studded Rolex, which were seized by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 2021. The officials will probe if Patryn obtained the assets lawfully, and if he cannot prove legitimacy, he may lose them, with proceeds going to crime victims and prevention services. QuadrigaCX collapsed in 2020 due to fraud by its other founder, Gerry Cotten, who died suddenly in 2018.
