18-year-old wildcard Ellie Harrison scored an upset victory at the Rip Curl Pro, knocking out back-to-back defending champ Tyler Wright and World No.1 Molly Picklum. Harrison secured a "dream" quarter-final berth in front of her family and friends at Winkipop. Picklum's pursuit of her first Bells Beach title continued after she narrowly advanced to the round of 16.
