Tennessee lawmakers propose the Menstrual Hygiene Products Accessibility Act providing free feminine hygiene products in public and charter high schools.

Tennessee lawmakers propose the Menstrual Hygiene Products Accessibility Act (HB 2207), providing free feminine hygiene products in public and charter high schools across the state. The bill, introduced by Rep. Elaine Davis (R-Knoxville) and Sen. Raumesh Akbari (D-Memphis), aims to reduce absenteeism due to lack of access and ensure dignity and health for young women. The bill would allocate 20% of tax revenue for menstrual products sold in the state to a special account for distribution to eligible schools.
