South Africa's Parliament approves Spy Bill, enhancing SSA accountability and granting more powers to Inspector-General of Intelligence.

South Africa's Parliament has approved the General Intelligence Laws Amendment Bill, also known as the Spy Bill. The bill aims to enhance the accountability of the State Security Agency (SSA) and grant more powers to the Inspector-General of Intelligence. The bill will also address shortcomings in intelligence services and separate the SSA into domestic and foreign services. All major parties including the ANC, DA, and EFF have supported the bill, which aims to prevent abuse of intelligence services experienced during former President Jacob Zuma's tenure.
