Nigerian data consumption hit a new record of 721,522 terabytes in January 2024, up from 713,200 terabytes in December 2023. Despite a decrease in internet subscriptions by 1.9 million, the data usage increased. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has ordered telecom operators to disconnect phone lines without linked National Identification Numbers (NIN) and SIM cards by March 29, 2024, to boost national security.
