New Zealand expands adverse event classification to provide $80,000 support for North Island regions due to dry weather.
New Zealand's government has expanded its medium-scale adverse event classification to cover parts of the North Island due to persistent dry weather conditions. This classification will provide up to $80,000 in support for Rural Support Trusts in Northland, Taranaki, Horizons, and Greater Wellington regions, including the Wairarapa. Agriculture Minister Todd McClay and Rural Communities Minister Mark Patterson have been visiting affected regions, meeting with farmers, growers, and sector groups. The classification enables further support for farmers and growers, including tax relief and consideration for Rural Assistance Payments.
