İstanbul selected as host for 2027 European Games by European Olympic Committees' executive committee.
Istanbul has been chosen to host the 2027 European Games, according to Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu. The European Olympic Committees' executive committee unanimously picked the Turkish capital, which has previously unsuccessfully bid for the Olympic Games. The decision still needs final approval from the EOC's general assembly in June. The European Games, first held in 2015, serve as a continental championship and Olympic qualifier for several sports.
