The Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg has opened a new four-bed adult epilepsy monitoring unit, replacing a closed two-bed unit due to staffing challenges and equipment failure. The $2.3m government-funded unit, opening in phases, will improve care for epilepsy patients. An adjacent four-bed unit, funded by donations, also opened for neurosurgery patients. Over 23,000 Manitobans suffer from epilepsy or seizure disorders.
