Gary Mayor Eddie Melton announced a $12m two-year strategy to address blight as part of downtown revitalization. Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana donated $3m, matched by the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority, for demolition of blighted buildings to make way for new transit-oriented development in downtown Gary. Gary aims to enhance safety and transform the community with this funding.
