Former Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland has been appointed as the new dean of Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis. Strickland, who served as mayor from 2016 to 2023, possesses a wealth of experience in law practice, public service, and administration, which will complement the law school's existing faculty. Strickland graduated magna cum laude from the University of Memphis and taught as an adjunct instructor there from 1989 to 1996.
