BRO establishes 298-km Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road in Ladakh, creating a shorter, all-weather connectivity axis.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has established connectivity on the 298-km Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road in Ladakh, providing a third axis to the strategically-important region. The road connects Manali to Leh through Darcha and Nimmu on the Kargil-Leh Highway. This new axis is shorter and crosses only one pass, Shinkun La, which will have a tunnel constructed for all-weather connectivity. The connectivity will strengthen defence preparedness and boost economic development in the Zanskar valley.
