BirdLife Malta proposes a moratorium on spring hunting of Turtle-dove due to ongoing species decline. The NGO will present its proposal at an ORNIS Committee meeting, where a FKNK hunters' association proposal to open the spring hunting season for Turtle-dove will also be discussed. BirdLife cited past European Commission infringement procedures halting Turtle-doves' trapping in Malta.
