Toyota Thailand president Noriaki Yamashita announced plans for mass production of an electric Hilux pickup truck by 2025, following Isuzu Motors' plan to manufacture a battery-powered D-MAX pickup in Thailand by the same year. Thailand serves as a regional automaking hub, producing vehicles for domestic sale and export. Toyota aims to sell 250,000 vehicles in Thailand this year as electric vehicle adoption grows, with Chinese brands investing $1.4 billion in new facilities.
