The alleged incident occurred at Neutral Bay Wharf on February 27, with North Shore Police Area Command concluding that the alleged assault warranted "no further police action." The photographer, Ben McDonald, stated that there was "no aggression" from his side and that Mr Swift punched him during a verbal altercation. Taylor Swift's team claimed there was aggression from the photographers during the incident.
