Study identifies optimal locations for tree planting to combat global warming, addressing albedo impact.

A new study reveals that planting trees in wrong locations can contribute to global warming. A map has been developed to identify the best places to regrow forests and help cool the planet. Although planting trees soaks up carbon dioxide, in some cases, more trees can lead to less sunlight being reflected back, causing the planet to absorb more heat. This study provides a global analysis and a tool for practitioners and land managers to determine the impact of albedo on tree planting projects.
