The owner of Feilding's Pitter Patter Education Centre, Pauline Murphy, has been found guilty of serious misconduct and multiple breaches of the teachers' code of professional responsibility. Murphy, who locked children in rooms, smacked them, and fed them out-of-date food, had her teaching registration cancelled by the Teachers' Disciplinary Tribunal and must pay nearly $40,000 in costs. The centre was forced to close in 2021 after a Ministry of Education investigation found 33 breaches, with the misconduct spanning over a decade.
