Nigerian Copyright Commission charges MTN Nigeria, CEO Karl Toriola, and others with copyright infringement for unauthorized use of Maleke Idowu Moye's music between 2010-2017.

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has filed criminal charges against MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd. and four others, including CEO Karl Toriola, over alleged copyright infringement. The case, with number FHC/ABJ/CR/111/2024, accuses the defendants of using music by artist Maleke Idowu Moye without his consent or authorization between 2010 and 2017. The defendants, who include Fun Mobile Ltd., allegedly used Moye's musical works and sound recordings as caller ringback tunes without his permission.
