New Zealand's Court of Appeal dismissed SFO's appeal in the NZ First Foundation deception case.
New Zealand's Court of Appeal dismissed the Serious Fraud Office's (SFO) appeal against the acquittal of two men accused of obtaining nearly $750,000 by deception for the New Zealand First Foundation. The SFO failed to prove the two men knew they were not entitled to the money. The New Zealand First Party leader and Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters called the SFO prosecution a "malicious attack" on the party, stating that there was never any evidence or intention to act illegally.
