Consumers Energy and Muskegon County are partnering to develop a 250-megawatt solar farm on 1,900 acres of wastewater treatment property, making it one of Michigan's largest. The Muskegon Solar Energy Center will generate enough electricity to power around 40,000 homes and is part of Consumers Energy's goal to reach 8,000 megawatts of solar by 2040. Construction begins in April and is expected to be fully operational by 2026.
