Memphis Mayor Paul Young and the African American Mayors Association (AAMA) have launched the Black Mayors' Coalition on Crime (BMCC) to harness the collective power of black mayors across the US. The inaugural meeting, held in Memphis, brought together 21 mayors and their proxies from 12 states. The coalition aims to provide a unified voice for black mayors, who represent communities most affected by crime, to call for national and local policy change and funding.
