Former head of China's soccer association, Chen Xuyuan, has been sentenced to life in prison for accepting over €9.21 million ($10.3 million) in bribes, following one of the largest anti-corruption probes in the sport in years. Chen, who served as the CFA president and chairman of Shanghai International Port Group Co Ltd, was found guilty of using his positions to help others in areas such as project contracting, investment operations, and sporting event arrangements, in return for bribes worth over 81 million yuan ($11.23 million). Chen has been deprived of his political rights for life, and all his personal assets have been confiscated.
