Diageo increases draught product price by 6c per 50L keg, adding to a 12c increase from last year, leading to VFI criticizing the move and calling for government support.

Diageo, the producer of popular beers like Guinness and Carlsberg, has announced a 6c (5.28 euros per 50 litre keg) price increase for its draught products from April 15th. This comes in addition to a 12c hike implemented last year. The Vintners Federation of Ireland (VFI) has criticised the move, describing it as a "massive blow to the pub trade" and calling for governmental support for the sector, which is already struggling with increased costs.
