Canadian government awards Chantier Davie Canada Inc. $19.6m contract for new Program Icebreakers under National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS).

The Canadian government has awarded shipbuilder Chantier Davie Canada Inc. a $19.6m contract to design new Program Icebreakers, as part of the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS). The icebreakers will replace the Canadian Coast Guard's (CCG) medium icebreakers in Atlantic Canada, the St. Lawrence waterways, and the Arctic, supporting commercial fisheries and providing icebreaking support for ship transportation. The NSS aims to boost economic growth, create jobs, and ensure the CCG has the necessary ships for their duties.
