Black Press exits creditor protection after restructuring and sale to Canadian investors.

Black Press, the owner of numerous community newspapers across Western Canada, has emerged from creditor protection following its restructuring and sale. The company, based in Surrey, British Columbia, had announced in January that it entered creditor protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act. The sale to Canadian institutional investors Canso Investment Counsel and Deans Knight Capital Management, as well as local media company Carpenter Media Group, has now closed. Black Press will continue to publish impactful local journalism and advertising and remains under Canadian ownership.
