Alberta's 2024 budget will allocate $618m to combat a surgical backlog across the province, with $313m going to the Alberta Surgical Initiative Capital Program. The program aims to open new operating rooms, renovate spaces, and purchase new equipment, with a target to perform 310,000 surgeries in 2024. Additionally, $305m will be given to Alberta Health Services to further increase surgical capacity.
