40-year-old Gary "Cookie" McLoughlin, named locally as the victim in a Newry road traffic collision, was remembered as a "legend" by his former football club Ashgrove Rovers FC. McLoughlin, a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Forkhill Road, was the father of Matty McLoughlin, who plays for Linfield FC's under-18 team. The collision was one of five fatal road accidents in Northern Ireland over the weekend.
