1st CNG carrier with 700,000 m³ capacity delivered in Qidong, China, for Indonesian islands' peak-demand power plants.
The world's first compressed natural gas (CNG) carrier, with a 700,000 cubic meters capacity, was delivered in Qidong, China. Measuring 110 meters in length, the vessel will transport CNG between Indonesian islands for peak-demand power plants. Powered by natural gas, it has a design speed of 14 knots and does not require expensive liquefaction or regasification facilities, unlike LNG carriers. This delivery marks a milestone in the natural gas industry and may pave the way for future maritime transport of hydrogen.
