South Carolina court clerk Rebecca Hill resigns over alleged jury tampering in Alex Murdaugh's trial.

South Carolina court clerk Rebecca Hill has resigned after facing allegations of jury tampering during the high-profile double murder trial of Alex Murdaugh. Hill's book, co-authored with Neil Gordon, titled "Behind the Doors of Justice: the Murdaugh Murders," was also halted in December following revelations that Hill plagiarized a portion of the book without Gordon's knowledge. The allegations were made by Murdaugh's legal team, who filed a motion for a retrial, claiming that Hill had influenced the jury. However, the judge denied the request for a new trial, stating that Hill was "not completely credible" as a witness. Hill's attorney, Justin Bamberg, stated that the resignation was due to a distraction for voters during the upcoming election, rather than being related to ongoing criminal and ethics probes into her conduct.
