A Red Cliffs man, Colin Thomson, was convicted and fined $20,000 for illegally dumping nearly 110,000 waste tyres on a property in northwest Victoria. The owner of the property has since passed away, but their estate had to spend nearly $900,000 to remove the tyres. Thomson was also ordered to repay the clean-up costs, do 200 hours of unpaid community service, and pay $5,000 in EPA legal fees.
