Public Sector Union alarmed by proposed 14% reduction in Ethnic Communities Ministry staff and office closures.

The Public Sector Union is alarmed by a proposal to reduce the number of permanent staff at the Ministry for Ethnic Communities by 14% and close regional offices. The ministry was established in 2021 following the Christchurch mosque attack and aims to safeguard and strengthen the wellbeing of ethnic communities in New Zealand. The union is concerned that the proposed changes will undermine the ministry's work.
