The National University of Singapore (NUS) launches an AI institute to advance research and application of AI technologies in areas such as education, healthcare, and finance. The institute will also study ways to regulate for transparency and accountability to address ethical concerns and risks associated with AI. NUS aims to collaborate with government agencies and industry to amplify AI capabilities across society. Researchers have received 8 million Singapore dollars in external investment, and NUS will invest an additional 20 million Singapore dollars for foundational research, policy studies, and real-world applications.
