9,000 new hotel rooms added in Singapore to cater to anticipated tourist growth from India.

Singapore is expanding its hospitality infrastructure, including the addition of 9,000 new hotel rooms, to cater for the anticipated growth in tourist arrivals from India. Before the pandemic, Singapore received 1.4 million tourists from India in 2019, which increased to 1.1 million in 2023. The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is promoting Singapore as a holiday destination in India through offices in Mumbai and Delhi, and also sees opportunities in sectors like pharma, BioMed, IT, and FinTech to boost bilateral trade. The STB expects the APAC edition of the National Retail Federation (NRF) Retail Big Show in June to attract business opportunities.
