Major U.S. airlines meet with Boeing executives to discuss quality control issues and production delays.

Major U.S. airlines, including Alaska Airlines, Southwest, and United, will meet with Boeing executives this week to discuss the company's strategies for addressing quality control issues. Following an incident in January where a panel blew out of an Alaska Airlines jetliner, Boeing's manufacturing troubles have slowed down the delivery of planes to carriers, forcing airlines to reduce their schedules and consider alternative aircraft manufacturers. Boeing's slowdown in aircraft production is estimated to cost the company between US$4 billion and $4.5 billion during the first quarter of 2021.
