German firm SAP ordered to pay R500m to South Africa's SIU over invalid Eskom contracts (2013-2016).
German software firm SAP is ordered by South Africa's Special Tribunal to pay R500m to the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) over two invalid contracts with state-owned electricity firm Eskom, between 2013-2016. The SIU found the contracts violated the Public Finance Management Act, leading to fruitless and wasteful expenditures. The settlement does not absolve SAP from potential prosecution.
