Swedish telecoms equipment supplier Ericsson plans to lay off around 1,200 employees in Sweden to cut costs amid reduced spending on 5G gear by customers. The company has already cut thousands of staff last year and is expecting the 5G equipment market to remain challenging in 2024, particularly in North America and India. Ericsson is currently negotiating with unions regarding the job cuts.
